What will I need to do to receive my laptop?

After enrolling, parents and students will need to review and sign the Student Technology Agreement and Acceptable Use Agreement, as well as pay the technology fee. Once these have been completed and submitted the student will be able to receive the laptop.

Can parents add their own filtering to the laptops?

Can parents add their own filtering to the laptops?

The laptops come equipped with fully CIPA compliant webfiltering. If you have any additional concerns, you can contact the Tech Center for further information.

Can students add an app or change the desktop?

Can students add an app or change the desktop?

Students will have rights to have install apps and change their desktops. Keep in mind, the laptops may be restored or reformatted at any time, so students are highly encouraged to backup all local content and to use discretion with application and desktop alterations.

Will the laptops be filtered at home?

Yes, the laptops will be filtered through the BUHSD webfilter regardless of location.

Will students get the laptops during the summer to complete any summer work?

Will students get the laptops during the summer to complete any summer work?

Students will not be able to keep the laptop over the summer break unless they are participating in a District approved summer program.

What are our plans for infrastructure this summer to prepare for next year?

Specifically, we have more than doubled the bandwidth between schools and to the internet, upgraded to 1GBPS A/C enabled access points throughout the district, and doubled bandwidth to the internet. We have also upgraded core network devices to meet anticipated requirements.

This is to be determined, and further information will published as the 1:1 implementation progresses.

How far does the collaboration go in the classroom? Are students/teachers able to collaborate with other schools within the district?

Collaboration is decided at the class level. Resources and software, for example Office 365 and Edmodo, will be available to that will provide for collaboration across the district.

If students switch schools in the same district do we keep the same laptop?

If students switch schools in the same district do we keep the same laptop?

Yes. As long as students remain in the school district, they will use the same laptop during their enrollment.
