The YHS Senior Class of 2016 will be required to return their school laptops and power cords to the Tech Center in room 2111 no later than May 17th. Returning the laptop and power cord will be part of the Senior Class check-out process. As a reminder, graduating seniors must have all of the items on their Senior Class check-out sheet completed before they will be able to attend Graduation Practice on May 18th. Attending graduation practice is a requirement to participate in the graduation ceremony.

STUDENT COUNCIL: Student Council will meet TODAY at 2:15 in the lecture Hall.
FOOD DRIVE: The last food drive of the year starts today! Bring in your canned food into your second period teacher! The second period class that has the most cans by the end of the food drive will win donuts! This is not only a competition between second period classes but also BUCKEYE! So, bring in your cans to beat the hawks and let the whole city know in the city newspaper!
TEENAGE DONATION GROUP: Help the Teenage Donation Group by bringing a can of food or box of cereal and put it in one of the boxes found around campus. Please help the people in need.
GUIDANCE: Behind on credits? Summer school information packets are now available in Guidance. Come by and get yours today – sign-ups end May 19th!
NHS: There will be a NHS meeting after school Wednesday in room 2204. If you’re interested in running for an officer position please see Ms. Marquez today or tomorrow before the meeting.
DRAMA CLUB: Drama club members, if you are planning on coming to Banquet on Monday May 16th, please RSVP with Ms. Romito by this Friday.
DRAMA CLUB: The theater class has been working on their play “America’s Next Top Boy Model” all quarter. Come on out to the PAC Friday night to see their performance. The show is free for all to attend.
LOST & FOUND: Please check the lost & found this week – there are a number of unclaimed prescription eye glasses and lots of clothing that need to be claimed before they are donated next week.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK: This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Make sure you give all your teachers a huge THANK YOU for all of their hard work this year!

YOUTH FOR YOUTH: Are you success driven? Are you interested in building your leadership skills? If so, Youth for Youth may be the club for you. Come check it out in room 2202 after school every Wednesday.

MTG (MAGIC THE GATHERING) CLUB: The MTG Club is looking for more members! Come check out a fun multiplayer strategy game you’ll love to play. We meet every Wednesday after school in room 801. Thanks!

DRAMA CLUB: Drama club will meet Thursday, April 28th in the Drama classroom immediately after school. We will be discussing the end of year banquet. We’ll keep it as short as possible. Please all drama club members attend.

STUDENT COUNCIL: Student Council will meet TODAY at 2:15 in the lecture Hall, next year’s student council officers are welcome to attend this meeting.

STUDENT COUNCIL: Members at large applications are available in the bookstore for students that did not run for an officer for student council. These applications are due to Mrs. Garcia by Friday! No late applications will be accepted.

CONCERT CHIOR: The Concert Choir is having Karaoke Night on Friday, May 6 at 7:00 PM in the music room. Be sure to buy an admission ticket for $3.00 from any choir member or stop by the music room.

AP U.S. HISTORY TUTORING: AP United States History students taking the AP Exam on May 6th , we will start meeting in Room 803 every day after school from 2:05 – 3:00 to prepare for the exam.

SMASHDOWN: DIP, DIVE, DODGE AND DUCK!. It is time to put your team together for the annual SMASHDOWN. The smashdown will take place on Friday, May 6th during 5th period. The smashdown is a dodgeball tournament where students, teachers and first responders will battle it out for the title of champion. Team registration is 10 dollars and money is due by May 4th to Mr. Kinney in room 2105. If you don’t want to participate but still attend, you can buy a ticket for 1 dollar at lunch. If you don’t have a ticket or a registered team you will have to go to study hall during this time.

JV & VARSITY CHEER: JV & Varsity cheer tryouts are this week! Clinics are today thru Thursday 2:45-4:45 in the small gym and tryouts will be Friday beginning at 3pm!

BOY’S GOLF: For those interested in playing golf next year at YHS, please attend today’s meeting immediately after school in room 3204.

GIRL’S TENNIS: Girl’s Tennis will have a meeting immediately after school today in the small gym.

SENIORS: The Regency Beauty Institute in Tolleson is offering a scholarship. If you are interested in applying there are scholarship applications in the Guidance Office.

SENIORS: Just a reminder that if you are working on courses through A+, they must be completed by May 2nd or you will not be able to participate in graduation.

SENIORS: St. Henry’s Catholic Church is offering a scholarship to its members. If you would like to complete an application you can pick one up in the Guidance Office.

DANCE CONCERT: The Youngker Dance Concert “One Last Time” will be this Thursday and Friday April 28th and 29th in the PAC at 7pm. Tickets are $5 the doors will open at 6:30. This is our biggest show yet and Ms. Pauli’s last one at Youngker so don’t miss out!

NHS BLOOD DRIVE: Donate blood on April 19! You can sign up for the Blood Drive during both lunches in the cafeteria. Donors must be at least 16 years old.
SCIENCE CLUB: Like science? Want to work on an independent science project? Interested in competing in science competitions such as Envirothon and the Arizona Science Bowl? Join Science Club! Everyone is welcome. First meeting will be April 20th after school in room 2119.

FOOTBALL Attention all prospective JV and Varsity Football Players Spring Football starts next Monday, April 25th at 2:15 in the cafeteria for an hour long meeting. Bring a writing utensil and make sure to be on time. The first actual practice will be Tuesday and run through the next three weeks from 2:30pm to 4:30 pm Monday’s through Thursday’s for the next three weeks. We only have 12 days of Spring Football so make arrangements to make all of them. Even if you are currently in a Spring Sport this meeting is mandatory and your presence has already been cleared with your spring sports Head Coach. See you Next Monday and be part of something special!!!
Drama Club: The YHS Spring play, Flowers in the Desert, is this week, Friday and Saturday at 7PM. However, students can see a free performance Thursday at 7PM with their student ID. Come on out for a great performance.
Culture Club: The next meeting of the Culture Club will be April 21st, at 6PM at Estrella Foothills. All signed up travelers are invited to come as well as any students still interested in signing up for our trip to the Mediterranean. We will be serving an assortment of French Cheeses for you to sample. Hope to see you there. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Romito or Ms. McDermott.
