IMPORTANT DATES:

Thursday and Friday, October 8th and 9th : Mid Term Exams / Half Day Schedule – School starts at 7:20 a.m. and will dismiss at 11:20 a.m. *No Lunch Service*

October 12th – October 16th: Fall Break – NO SCHOOL        

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ALL STUDENTS: You must have an ID card to purchase lunch.  If you don’t have your ID card you need to go to the bookstore and get another one as soon as possible. 

SPEECH AND DEBATE: Also, Speech and Debate is hosting a “cutest pet” contest. Bring a picture of your pet in to Ms. Buquicchio. It is $1 to enter. Entries will be accepted from Sept 21 until Sept. 30. On Oct 1, all entries will be posted in the cafeteria to be voted on. Voting will be open until Oct 8.  All votes are $1. You can vote as often as you like. On Oct 9, a winner will be declared and given a prize!

MARINE BIOLOGY: Attention all Students interested in Marine Biology. The deposit for Catalina Island is coming due. Please see Mrs. Thorpe room 2121 for more information.

NATIONAL HONORS SOCIETY: There will be a National Honor Society meeting on Tuesday, October 6.  We’ll meet after school in room 2210.

ACADEMIC TRIVIA TEAM: Do you see yourself as a contestant on Jeopardy? Do you like learning new things? Come to the Youngker High School Academic Trivia Team meeting on Mondays in room 2202 See Miss Cavano or Mr. Coverstone for more details.

SOFTBALL: There will be NO practice this week!

MARINE BIOLOGY:  Attention ALL STUDENTS! There will be a Marine Biology Club Meeting Right after school Tuesday September 22 in room 2121. Don’t forget that Deposits for Catalina Island are Due October 1st if you plan on going! Get excited to explore the Ocean!

It’s time to order your Class Ring, Cap & Gown and Graduation Supplies!

Balfour will take orders Wednesday, September 16th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the PAC Lobby and Thursday, September 17th during lunches in the Cafeteria. Information packets are available in the front office.

SENIORS:  Anyone interested in participating in West-MEC there is still time and room to get into the E.M.T (Emergency Medical Treatment) program. Please see Mr. Bryan if interested.

SCIENCE NATIONAL HONORS SOCIETY: The first meeting for Science National Honor Society will be on Thursday September 10th at 2:10 in Ms. Doskocil’s class, room 2119.  Remember that shirt money is due by Thursday.  Shirts are $12.  All members are required to attend.  Please see Ms. Doskocil with any questions

SENIORS: NAU will be on campus for an application workshop on Thursday, September 10th.  Please sign up in Guidance by Wednesday the 9th to get a pass for this session.  You will bring your laptops to this session to complete your admission application online

CULTURE CLUB: The culture club is traveling the European Mediterranean Spring Break of 2017! Come join us as we explore Italy, France and Spain. If you missed the district meeting, or you just want to know more about going on the trip, meet in room 2208 Wednesday, September 9th immediately after school. The meeting will be kept short.

SOFTBALL: Any girls interested in playing softball this year and are not currently playing a school sport, there will be open field beginning this Wednesday on the varsity softball field from 6:00-7:30pm. If you have any questions please see Ms. Celaya in room 2218

INTERACT CLUB: Join the YHS Interact club! Interact club members learn leadership schools, meet new friends, and provide services to the community. Our motto is “service above self.” We meet in room 2204 at 2:15 on Fridays.

NATIONAL HONORS SOCIETY: Do you need extra help with your new classes?  Tutoring is now available in the Media Center, Mondays through Thursdays, until 3:00.  Tutors are there to help applications.

STUDENT COUNCIL: Student Council will meet TODAY at 2:15 in the lecture Hall.
