BUHSD Update 12-18-20

BUHSD Families,

As we end the semester, we just want to remind you that we will begin second semester in Distance Learning modality for all students for the first two weeks.  This will allow for an isolation/quarantine period for all students and staff after winter break activities.  During the January 12th Governing Board Meeting, a decision will be made on the learning modality that the District will continue with after those first two weeks.  During those first two weeks, we will have On-Site Support open for students who need a place to participate in Distance Learning and meal service distribution will resume.  And, to begin the semester on January 4th, all campuses will follow the Wednesday Late Start Schedule for that first day.

For those who continue to monitor the health benchmarks through our emails, with yesterday’s posting on the school re-opening dashboard, our overall risk level remains at the “substantial” level with the recommended learning scenario being “Virtual with On-Site Support”.  Specifically:
- Cases: we had an increase from 360.47 cases to 689.44 cases per 100,000 population;
- Percent Positivity: this percentage increased from 16.04% to 19.16%;
- Covid-like Illness: this benchmark increased from 9.1% to 10.20%.

We want to wish you and your family a safe, healthy, and restful couple of weeks!  We look forward to the new opportunities 2021 will bring for our students.

Sincerely,
Rob Roberson
Interim Superintendent
