Wolves Update 11/6

November 6, 2020

Good morning Wolf Pack Nation

This is Jay Cox your Estrella Foothills High School principal.  This message is official notification about an incident we had on the EFHS campus last night (November 5) involving a student in possession of a firearm.  First and foremost, please know that all students involved are safe and secure.  So you know the truth and can disregard any rumors you might have heard, here is a short account of the incident:

At approximately 8:30 yesterday (November 5) evening at the end of marching band practice, a student pulled a firearm from a backpack and made threats of personal bodily harm.  A very brave and fast acting upper classman was able to take the gun away from the troubled student, who safely gave it to Mr. Glenn our band director.  911 was called and police arrived.  Mr. Glenn had great control of the situation until the police arrived and took over the investigation.  Students were interviewed and released to parents.  The student who brought the firearm was released from police custody to EMS to be transported to the hospital for non-injury related medical attention.

Today we are offering counseling services for any and all students.  We also have our SRO, Jason Brennon and other uniformed officers on campus.

I can not divulge any student names or student information, but if you do have any other questions in reference to this incident or any other school related incident, please call me at 623-327-2471.

Thank you for your continued support and let’s keep Howling Victory in support of all of our students.

Respectfully,

Jay Cox

Principal Estrella Foothills High School
