BUCKEYE, AZ — Celine Barcenas and Kinsley Rovey have been named national finalists for their Agriscience Fair project, earning a spot among the Top 10 projects in the nation.

Their project, “Protecting Agriculturists: How Does Cotton Compare to Polyester When Protecting From UVA/UVB Radiation?”, examines how different fabric materials may help protect agricultural workers from exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

Through their research, Celine and Kinsley explored the effectiveness of cotton and polyester in providing protection from UVA and UVB radiation - an important topic for agriculturists who often spend extended periods of time working outdoors.

Their success at the national level represents an outstanding accomplishment and highlights the students' dedication to agricultural science, research, and innovation.

As national finalists, Celine and Kinsley will participate in a Zoom interview about their project as the next step in the competition. Their final placement will be announced on stage during the National FFA Convention in October, where they will compete for a spot among the nation's top agriscience projects.

No matter the final placement, earning a place in the Top 10 in the nation is an incredible achievement.
