Estrella Foothills High School (EFHS) is taking a meaningful step toward sustainability with the launch of its new “Wolves Go Green” recycling initiative - an environmentally focused program led by students, for students.
Located in the school cafeteria, the program features eight specialized recycling bins designated for aluminum cans and plastic bottles. The effort aims to reduce campus waste while empowering students to take an active role in environmental stewardship.
This initiative is truly a collaborative effort across campus. Students in In-School Suspension (ISS) support the program through daily sorting and organization of collected materials as part of their campus service contributions. The program is overseen by Character Coach Julio Zuniga and Assistant Principal Nick Gonzalez, who are helping guide and sustain the effort.
In addition, EFHS Student Council (STUCO) members and Art Design students played an important role in bringing the project to life, contributing to the design and promotion of the recycling stations to encourage participation schoolwide.
Beyond its environmental impact, the program also provides direct benefits to the school community. All proceeds generated from collected recyclables are donated back to the EFHS Principal’s Fund, supporting student programs, activities, and campus needs.
“Wolves Go Green” reflects EFHS’s commitment to student leadership, community responsibility, and innovative ways to give back.
Go Wolves!
